The smell of newly cut grass, the newly watered and raked
infield dirt, the clean fresh air, the sun beating on your face, and the aroma
of tasty food and treats around you. Baseball is back! And it starts with
Spring Training in Scottsdale, Arizona. This coming week I have the privilege
to go to Scottsdale to watch the best team take the field, the San Francisco
Giants.
I’m excited to see the usually faces like Posey, Cain, and
Bumgarner, but I’m also excited to see the up and coming talent that Giants
have in there farmer system. Gary Brown is one of their top prospects and with
his speed and defense ability he could be the center fielder of the future for
them. I’ll also be watching Brandon Belt and how he can build on from last
year’s performance. He played in 145 games and batted .275 with 7 homeruns, 56
RBIs, and an on base percentage of .360. He has great defense ability and the possibility
to become a future Gold Glover. An interesting player that the Giants invited
to spring training and has a shot to make the team is Kensuke Tanaka, a second
baseman from Japan. So far in 2 games he’s shown some flashy defense with the
glove.
Next week I will talk about my experience in Scottsdale
Arizona and how the San Francisco Giants look to repeat as World Series
Champions.
