Doing A Radio Show

Our new show, Backyard Radio, is a music/sports show featuring my co-hosts Edwin, Steven and me. We will play the freshest new music and talk about sports that are relevant to our backyard. That could be SF Gator sports or local pro and college sports.

I wanted to do this show so that I could put myself out of my element and have a chance to learn and grow a little bit. I’m having a lot of fun doing this radio show and the hour goes by fast, especially since the show is about things that I enjoy. Sports are a big part of my life. I currently work in sports production and had the opportunity to intern with the Giants during the 2012 World Series winning season.  Music is also a big part of my life. I listen to it just about every day. So this radio show is a combination of things that I love. It is our first radio show and we are learning a lot in the process.

Be sure and tune-in to KSFSmedia.net every Friday night at 9 and check us out for yourself.

Giants Among Men

By Steven Lentz II

The smell of newly cut grass, the newly watered and raked infield dirt, the clean fresh air, the sun beating on your face, and the aroma of tasty food and treats around you. Baseball is back! And it starts with Spring Training in Scottsdale, Arizona. This coming week I have the privilege to go to Scottsdale to watch the best team take the field, the San Francisco Giants.

I’m excited to see the usually faces like Posey, Cain, and Bumgarner, but I’m also excited to see the up and coming talent that Giants have in there farmer system. Gary Brown is one of their top prospects and with his speed and defense ability he could be the center fielder of the future for them. I’ll also be watching Brandon Belt and how he can build on from last year’s performance. He played in 145 games and batted .275 with 7 homeruns, 56 RBIs, and an on base percentage of .360. He has great defense ability and the possibility to become a future Gold Glover. An interesting player that the Giants invited to spring training and has a shot to make the team is Kensuke Tanaka, a second baseman from Japan. So far in 2 games he’s shown some flashy defense with the glove.

Next week I will talk about my experience in Scottsdale Arizona and how the San Francisco Giants look to repeat as World Series Champions.

Backyard Radio

Edwin Peabody
KSFS Radio
Backyard Radio is a Hip Hop and sport radio show on KSFS radio from
9-10PM  on Fridays, which is hosted by Edwin, Jeff and Steven. This semester we got the opportunity to start our own sports and hip hop radio show. And with none of us having any experience, we all jumped to the opportunity to learn more about radio. My interest in Radio began my first year of college at San Francisco State University. I began to realize how powerful of a connection it had with people. I also loved the way it opened ones imagination to think and use sound to create images in the brain rather than simply visually seeing them. We chose to do our show on sports and Hip-hop because we realized that it was something we all enjoyed talking about.
We believe that radio is very fun and exciting. It is a form of entertainment that a lot of people look forward to hearing. Radio is more than just a voice in your ear; it is an intimate conversation with you and who ever else the signal can reach. It is a performance that is filled with feeling, opinions and emotion.  The Backyard Radio show hosted by Edwin, Steven, and Jeff, has the goal to influences our listeners to eventually feel the same way we feel about radio.
Throughout the semester, as we get more comfortable with using all the equipment, our show will get better and better. I feel very lucky to have two very talented and creative teammates to help perform this show. So far, each show will contain great music, new and old rap and R&B and also interesting topics on sports. We will also incorporate important news topic and interviews and opinions from outside sources in our show. Steven is a sports addict that will work hard this semester to keep our listeners informed on the latest sports news. As for music goes, the three of us have a very wide range music selection. Throughout this semester the three of us will provide excellent taste in music. Every Friday night we look forward to doing our best and performing for our audience so please tune into Backyard Radio KSFS from 9-10PM every Friday.
